Planning and Environmental Concerns

The planning application includes an Environmental Report as good practice, although beyond the formal regulatory requirements. This covers the potential impact from:

  • noise
  • air quality
  • water
  • ecology
  • biodiversity
  • visual impact
  • landscape assessment

The environmental assessment is underpinned by the concept of the 'non-significant environmental impact'. The project emissions will be well below regulatory limits.

This project has set environmental engineering as its lead design criterion.

The community documents on the Progress page summarise the environmental designs.

Sustainability and renewable energy are now high level policy objectives as set out in UK Planning Policy Statement PPS22 and by the Stern Report on Climate Change. These policies and the project's objectives also remain compatible with other County and Local Plans and Policies.
